ATTENTION PARENTS

Make sure your child is eligible to compete, check with your
INSTRUCTOR to ensure they meet the requirements.

1- First of all, make sure you are within your weight category, the night before and in the morning before setting off.

2- Plan your journey in advance.
There’s nothing worse for a comp than getting lost and/or late – you might lose your entry fee and waste your whole preparation/training camp by missing it on the day.

3- Try to get info on what time of the day your first fight will be.
I’ve seen plenty of people being caught while having some food, on the toilet etc, being called to the mat and having to run to avoid a loss.  It also helps to prepare your nerves. Try to get an idea of what category or belt brackets will be happening before yours so you know when to warm up.

4 – Don’t overdo with the warm-up. Stretch and break a sweat but don’t do rounds with your mates.

5- Make sure to eat something on the day – do not fight with an empty stomach, you will spend a LOT of energy on your first fight and in some competitions, you might have your second fight less than half an hour after your first one.
I’ve been to a competition that was like that and before I knew it I was called for my 3rd fight and had nothing left on my tank – energy levels dropped and I couldn’t get out of a mount position…

6- Try to watch some matches and enjoy the atmosphere, and most definitely keep your ears open for when your name is called.

Good luck and smash it!!
